We here at Ampersand World Headquarters pride ourselves on our amazing rogue’s gallery of friends. One of the most talented and deserving people we know is Jessica Haeckel, also known as Gemiinii Riisiing

In the modern music landscape, which could kill a Zen master with boredom, Ms. Gemiinii is an oasis whose waters are pure whiskey and all the trees are made of cocaine. Her newest CD, IF, is an ambitious project, an insane idea that never should have gotten off the ground. Recorded with musicians from around the world, composed online, crowd-funded. Seriously, listen to this shit:

That is the real thing, and she can do this with almost no money, on her own time. She should be famous for this shit.

Unfortunately, she’s not, because the world is a terrible place populated almost entirely by Gila monsters.

However, you can help.

The Eugene Weekly is running the Next Big Thing contest, with a $500 prize and studio time and promotion and all the other shit musicians need and can’t get unless their sole purpose is to bore the world to suicide.

To win, she needs clicks. So, go here. Scroll down to the three Gemiinii Riisiing songs, listen to them, and click “like.” That’s it. You’re done. Do that, and you have successfully battled a Gila monster.

Don’t let this smug fucker win.
